FEDERAL EXAM TRAINING PROGRAM

This program is intended for oral exam candidates who have passed the written exam, or who have previously taken the oral exam unsuccessfully, or who are native or near-native speakers and are planning to take the federal exam or a state exam in the future.

This training program encompasses all five parts of the federal exam: sight translation English to Spanish, sight translation Spanish to English, consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of monologues, and simultaneous interpretation of dialogues with expert witnesses, as well as the psychology of test taking.

The program is divided into four main parts, with ten modules. It is primarily based on successful seminars and workshops given in California, Texas, Illinois, and Mexico, as well as on courses taught at San Diego State University and The University of Texas at Brownsville (now The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley).

The materials include handouts with the main contents of the program, authentic English and Spanish documents and videos, as well as practice exercises, weekly assignments, and test taking tips. The program can be completed in 12 weeks.

Trainees who took our workshops or courses currently work as freelance or staff       interpreters for Public Defenders, District Attorneys, Federal Courts, and law firms      from coast to coast.
